Sawarabi Garden

A garden that invites you deeper and deeper

In planning the landscape, we placed great importance on creating spaces that encourage contact with nature and movement.

The surrounding area is a residential area, so we made the natural features stand out. We planted native species and placed natural stones of various shapes here and there, allowing children to play freely using their imagination.

The pavement also has a washed finish that allows the crushed aggregate to show through.

A mirror is buried in the ground in the center, reflecting the sky and seamlessly incorporating nature into the play.

Because the garden is narrow and long, we designed it to have a flowing effect, drawing the children in like an alleyway. The front is a grassy area, and by creating a soft, undulating landscape, we created a garden that encourages active play.

The approach is paved with PVC pipes cut into rings, which are designed to be enjoyable to walk on like stepping stones. At the back is a tranquil garden with a sandbox.

The tallest trees in the garden were planted at the very back, creating an ice stop that connected the space from the front to the back.
